With all the music, electronics, computer knowledge and talent, it was a natural transition for Nicky-B to begin a DJ service. In late May of 1987, he started Sound Decision DJs and became very busy on the wedding, anniversary, school and social club circuits. Being a so called "techie", Nicky-B always remained ahead of the curve with the gear for his new trade. As music technology changed from vinyl records and cassette tapes to Compact Discs and computer files, he kept expanding the overall capabilities and services he offered well beyond just playing music. Sound Decision DJs gave way to Nicky-B Entertainment which now includes much of that technology such as large screen video projection with MTV style music videos, "real time" camera action to the big screens, customized slideshows and photo montages, a multi-decade mp3 based music library, a full 43,000 song karaoke library, computerized intelligent club lighting and decorative lightscapes. He also has a long list of special effects to enhance just about any type of event. With all this expertise, Nicky-B has become one of the nations most knowledgeable and sought after DJs. He has written technical articles for both Mobile Beat magazine and DJ Times magazine and has been the "gear guru" at Start dot ProDJ dot com since 1996, answering tech questions for other DJs throughout the USA and abroad and gives seminars about intelligent light programming and control for DJ's that use similar computer technology. He was a well known and highly respected, member of the American Disc Jockey Association and sat on the Board of Directors for the local Baltimore Area Disc Jockey Association from 2007 - 2009. He has become a national asset to the professional DJ industry and hopefully will continue to be a pioneer as the new millennium progresses! |
